Track lot numbers and best-by dates

Record lots and expiry dates on deliveries, sell the oldest first and run the stock-expiry report.

Steps

  1. 1Turn on lot and expiry. Business Settings › Product: enable lot numbers and product expiry.
  2. 2Choose behaviour for expired stock. Warn the cashier, or stop selling an expired lot.
  3. 3Receive with dates. When adding a purchase, enter lot number and expiry date per line.
  4. 4Sell as normal. The register draws from the lot that expires first.
  5. 5Run the report. Reports › Stock Expiry Report — choose your window, e.g. next 60 days.

Tips

  • Use a shorter window for wet and frozen food.
  • Imported food in the UAE and Pakistan often arrives closer to its date — check on receipt.
